KEITH SIMPSON MP


Keith Simpson

Keith was born in 1949. He was educated at Thorpe Grammar School, Norfolk, the University of Hull, and undertook post-graduate research in War Studies at King's College, London. He is married to Pepita, daughter of Norman Hollingsworth. They have one son and live in Reepham. As a military historian, Keith has been Director of Cranfield Security Studies Institute, Cranfield University, and a Senior Lecturer in War Studies and International Affairs at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst. He is author of five books on military history.

Keith was National Vice-Chairman of the Federation of Conservative Students from 1972 to 1973. He was Head of Foreign Affairs and Defence at Conservative Central Office from 1986 to 1988. From 1988 to 1990, he was Political Adviser to the Secretaries of State for Defence, George Younger, and Tom King. He was the Conservative Parliamentary candidate for Plymouth Devonport in 1992. At the 1997 General Election, Keith was elected as the Member of Parliament for Mid Norfolk with a majority of 1,336. In July 1997 he was appointed to the Conservative Parliamentary Defence Committee. In June 1998 he was appointed a frontbench defence spokesman. From June 1999 to June 2001, he was an Opposition Whip responsible for Treasury, Home Affairs and Health. He was subsequently appointed Shadow Agriculture Spokesman in October 2001. From 2002 to 2005, he was Shadow Minister for Defence; since May 2005, he has served as a Shadow Minister for Foreign Affairs.

Jo Cottingham

Jo was born in London in July 1950, is married to Laurie and has lived in Aylsham since she moved from Taverham in 2000. Jo graduated in Management Studies in 2000 and also holds the Diploma in Funeral Directing. Jo works full time and is one of a handful of qualified female Funeral Directors in Norfolk.

In May 2007, Jo was elected as Vice-Chairman of Broadland District Council for the 2007/08 municipal year. Jo's committee memberships are: Chairman of the Elected Member Development Panel, Chairman of Licensing Sub-Committee, Overview & Scrutiny Committee and Spatial Planning Advisory Board as well as being a substitute member of the Planning Committee. Jo is a Broadland District Council representative on the Aylsham Forum and the Aylsham Cittaslow Committee. Outside of the Council Jo is a Trustee of the Aylsham Old People's Welfare Association and Deputy Chair- Political & Campaigning of the Broadland Conservative Association.

Jo is always more than ready to help people with their problems that they may have with issues that are dealt with by Broadland District Council.

Mr IAN GRAHAM


Ian Graham

Ian was born in Oxford in January 1950, is married to Wendy and has lived in Aylsham since 1973. Ian served in the Royal Air Force, as an Electronic Technician, for 37 years, retiring in 2005. He served mainly at various Royal Air Force Stations in East Anglia with some time spent in Europe.

Having been elected in May 2007 as a Councillor on Broadland District Council, Ian sits on the Planning, Appeals, and Final Accounts Committees of the Council and is a substitute member of the Overview & Scrutiny Committee. He is also a member of the Aylsham Forum. As well as being a District Councillor, Ian is a member of the Aylsham Town Council. Ian is also the Chairman of the Broadland Conservative Association.
